1:41 - Lars Eller blindsides Tavares with a high hit. Okposo takes exception to the hit and grabs Eller. Things settle down and Eller gets two for illegal contact to the head. Isles PP 0-2
3:41 - Islanders don't generate much on the power play. Eller is out of the box and momentum has shifted to the Canadiens.
12:19 - Good back-and-forth action from both teams. Still scoreless, but both pressing for the first goal. 7:41 to go.
13:00 - Nabokov mades a potentially game-saving stop on Plekanec in close. He drops down the right pad as Plekanec fires a one-timer in close.
13:38 - Nabokov follows up the pad save by flashing the leather. Chants of Nab-by ring through the Coliseum.

10:50 - MTL PP (John Tavares - Two Minutes Holding the Stick) Habs PP 0-1.
10:50 - Tavares call comes after a bit of a brouhaha in the Habs zone. The Isles captain was knocked around, but somehow comes out with the only penalty. Coliseum not happy with the call.
12:50 - Islanders kill off the Tavares minor. PK is 2-2 on the night.
16:11 - NYI PP (Josh Georges - Two Minutes Delay of Game) Isles PP 0-1.
18:11 - Montreal back to even strength. Isles PP is 0-2 tonight.
END OF 2ND PERIOD: No score. Shots are 17-16 Montreal.
1:05: Ryan Strome is on the ice for his first shift.
2:01: Eric Boulton and George Parros drop the gloves by the Isles blue line. Both get fighting majors.
6:00: Both teams are hitting their stride after some sloppy play out of the gate. The Islanders generate some good chances, but Habs still lead on the shotclock 4-1.
12:54: Boulton has a nose for the net tonight. He one times a Martin feed in close, but is stopped by Price. Boulton and PK Subban mix it up after the whistle and each get Roughing minors.
13:54: Strome and Tavares are out for some 4-on-4 hockey and get the Isles best chance, as Tavares hits iron on a MacDonald rebound.

The Islanders are back in New York their next four games, kicking off the local stretch tonight against the Montreal Canadiens. Ryan Strome is set to make his NHL debut, as he looks to help the Isles avenge a 4-2 loss at the hands of the Canadiens on Nov. 10 in Montreal. Canada will be watching as tonight’s game is broadcast on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.

Ryan Strome, the Islanders fifth-overall pick in 2011, makes his NHL debut tonight. Strome was called up by the team on Wednesday after leading the American Hockey League in scoring, as a rookie, with 33 points (9g/24a) in 23 games.
Evgeni Nabokov makes his first start since Nov. 16, when he injured his groin against the Detroit Red Wings. Nabby is 5-5-3 this season. Casey Cizikas (jaw) will not play tonight.
