2012-13 season series (3-0-0)

The Islanders swept the 2012-13 season series from the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-0, or six points to one. The Islanders won both games at Nassau Coliseum, 4-3 on Jan. 21 and 4-2 on Apr. 6. Evgeni Nabokov was in goal for all three wins against the Bolts, including an 18-save, 2-0 shutout at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Matt Martin scored the game-winner in the teams’ most recent meeting.

Lightning player to watch
Martin St. Louis - Forward

At 38-years-old, Martin St. Louis has defied the aging process and continues to be at top producer in the NHL. St. Louis leads the Lightning with 31 points (13g/18a) in 33 games and is only under a point-per-game pace for the second time in his last five seasons. The two-time Art Ross Trophy winner (2003-04, 2012-13) has already had 10 multi-point games this season and three game-winning goals.

 
Islanders Storylines
Battered Bolts: The Lightning are missing one of the games top goal scorers, as Steven Stamkos is sidelined with a broken leg. Stamkos had 23 points in 17 games before his injury and still leads the team with 14 goals. Victor Hedman, the Lightning’s top offensive defenseman, is also out with an injury.
Whoa, Nabby: Evgeni Nabokov was sharp in his return from a groin injury, stopping 24-of-25 shots in a 1-0 overtime loss Saturday night.
Point Streak: The Islanders have recorded a point in three straight games at Nassau Coliseum.
