Morning Skate Updates - Islanders vs. Lightning
Updates from the Isles morning skate at Nassau Coliseum.
The Islanders host the Tampa Bay Lightning for the first of three meetings this season. The Isles swept the season series with the Bolts in 2012-13, including both games at Nassau Coliseum. After finishing 14th in the Eastern Conference last season, the Lightning have rebounded this season and are currently fourth in the East.

Ahead of tonight’s game, the Islanders took the ice at Nassau Coliseum for an optional morning skate. Here are some news, notes and quotes from today’s skate.

Home Ice: The Lightning are dynamite at home (12-3-1), but are under .500 (7-8-2) on the road. The Islanders need to take advantage of home ice, as their next two meetings come under stormy skies in Tampa.

Lineup Notes/Changes: Head coach Jack Capuano is going with the same lineup from Saturday’s game against Montreal. Colin McDonald, Matt Carkner and Casey Cizikas are out for the Islanders.

Nabby Starts: After a stellar performance on Saturday, Evgeni Nabokov gets the start Tuesday for the Islanders.

From the Coach: It’s always a defensive-first mentality, but it’s also about battle levels and I thought we did a better job last game against a quick team. We maintained D-side positioning, we did a lot of good things on the defensive side. We just need to create a little bit more.

All-Time: The Islanders are 40-35-7 all-time against the Lightning.
