Islanders Prospect Report
Pokka helps Finland, Bridgeport splits weekend and Stockton wins series in this week\'s prospect report.
AMATEUR PROSPECTS:

World Juniors Update:

Islanders’ prospects Griffin Reinhart, Adam Pelech, and Ville Pokka are representing their respective countries in the 2014 World Junior Hockey Championships in Malmo, Sweden.

Pelech & Reinhart:
Pelech, a Canadian defenseman, has no points through Canada’s first two games (a 7-2 win over Germany and a 5-4 shootout loss to the Czech Republic). Reinhart sat out the first two (and will miss Monday’s contest against Slovakia) due to a suspension incurred at last years’ tournament, but will be eligable to play Tuesday against the United States.

Pokka:
Pokka, a Finnish blueliner, has two assists in three games to start the tournament. Pokka picked up a helper in Finland's 5-1 win over Norway on Friday and in a 4-1 win over Russia Monday morning. Finland is 2-1 in the tournament, having lost 4-2 to Sweden on Saturday.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATES

American Hockey League: Bridgeport Sound Tigers (13-16-1-3), 4th in Northeast Division, 12th in Eastern Conference)

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers earned a weekend split, falling 6-3 to the Springfield Falcons Saturday night, but rebounding for a 3-2 shootout win over the Albany Devils on Sunday. Andrew Clark, Anders Lee and Matt Donovan scored for the Sound Tigers in Saturday’s losing effort. On Sunday, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Joey Diamond scored in the third period, sending the game to a marathon nine-round shootout. Alan Quine, Mike Halmo and Donovan kept the shootout alive long enough for Michael Devos to score the game-decider. Kenny Reiter made 20 saves in regulation and another six in the bonus round.

ECHL: Stockton Thunder (16-10-0-4), 2nd in Pacific Division, 4th in Western Conference

The Stockton Thunder won two straight over the San Francisco Bulls to take the weekend series 2-1. The Thunder dropped the series opener to their California rivals 5-2 on Friday. Shawn Boutin and Corey Trivino had the Thunder up 2-1, but the Bulls answered with four third-period goals for the win… Stockton rebounded on Saturday with a 7-6 overtime win. Greg Miller, Mitch Bruijsten and Alex MacLeod each had two goals in the win. Miller scored the OT winner while Bruijsten picked up his first two ECHL goals. Joey Martin rounded out the scoring for the Thunder… After a close contest Saturday, Stockton closed out the series with authority, winning 5-1 on Sunday. Matt Berland had a three-point period (1g/2a) while James Henry, Mike Dalhuisen, Landon Oslanski and Nick Larson all buldged twine for the Thunder.  Parker Milner stopped 31-of-32 shots in Sunday’s win.
