The Islanders lost both meetings with the Flyers this season, losing each game by a 5-2 score. In the most recent outing at Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers 3-0 lead proved insurmountable. John Tavares and Eric Boulton scored cutting the deficit to one, but that was as close as the Islanders came. Anders Nilsson relieved Kevin Poulin in the second period, making his first appearance for the Islanders this season.

Wayne Simmonds - Forward
Simmonds’ 16 goals lead the Flyers and his 35 points only trail captain Claude Giroux. Simmonds plays a hard-nosed style of hockey (77 PIM), and isn’t afraid to go to the net, as well as crash and bang. In 48 games, the Scarborough, ON, native has surpassed his goals, assists and points totals from last year’s shortened season (15-17-32 in 45 games). Simmonds has five points (1g/4a) in his last two games.
• End of the Road: The Islanders wrap up a six-game trip tonight in Philadelphia. The Islanders go for their fifth win on the trip and their ninth road win in 10 tries.
• Home-and-Home: The Islanders kick off a home-and-home series with the Flyers. The series shifts back to Long Island Monday afternoon at 1 p.m.
• Metropolitan Division: The Islanders return to the Metro division after playing six straight against non-divisional opponents. The Islanders next four games are all against Metro-division rivals.
• Poulin: Kevin Poulin has won six of his last seven games in the Islanders crease, allowing two goals or less in four of them.

|Quote of the Day:
Islanders head coach Jack Capuano on Kevin Poulin:
Kevin was solid. He really controlled his rebounds. He was really poised back there and he made some timely saves. With [Evgeni Nabokov hurt], this is an opportunity for Kevin and hopefully he’ll keep playing the way he’s been playing for us.”
