Three Islanders fans won the opportunity to see the Isles take on the Philadelphia Flyers in style at Wells Fargo Center, Saturday night. Thanks to Hopscotch Air, Howard Bernstein and his two children, Matt and Lauren, flew from Farmingdale’s Republic Airport to Philadelphia in less than an hour to catch their favorite team in action.
Departing at 4:30 from Long Island, the Bernsteins cruised at 6,000 feet and arrived in Philadelphia roughly an hour-and-a-half prior to puck drop. The family made a quick detour before heading to the rink, picking up authentic Philly cheese steaks from the legendary Pat’s Steaks.
“We had a great time on the plane. It was a really smooth up and smooth down,” said Bernstein. “It was definitely a great experience. Flying down here was the best way to do it.”
Hopscotch Air provided tickets just five rows behind the Islanders’ bench. For Bernstein, the seats provided a different vantage point than his usual spot in Nassau Coliseum’s section 207. Bernstein has had season tickets in 207 since his father purchased seats in 1972 for the Isles’ inaugural year.
The trip to Philadelphia added to Bernstein’s impressive travel schedule this season. He and Matt made the trip to the west coast earlier this season to see the Isles take on the Kings, Ducks and Sharks in California. Bernstein also watched the Isles play the Panthers and Lightning in Florida earlier in the road trip. With visits to Madison Square Garden and Prudential Center as well, Bernstein has been to nine of the NHL’s 30 venues this season.
Serving hundreds of airports through the northeast and mid-Atlantic, including seven with NHL teams, Hopscotch Air is the perfect way to start your NHL road trip or plan your next getaway.
