With the Rangers trailing 3-1 in the first period, the shutdown defenseman scored his third goal of the season triggering six unanswered goals by the Rangers. Islanders Storylines
Home-and-home (kind of): The Islanders will serve as the “home team” at Yankee Stadium before playing the Rangers at MSG on Friday. Friday will be the teams’ third meeting in 11 days.
Take It Outside: The Islanders are playing their first outdoor game in team history. Thomas Vanek is the only member of the team that has played an NHL game outdoors (2008 Winter Classic with Buffalo).
Neutral Site: Today marks the fifth time the Islanders played at a non-NHL venue. The Islanders are 3-0-1 in the previous four.
Okposo: Kyle Okposo is sixth in league scoring (23-34-57) and is on a six-game point streak (4-7-11).
