Crus Rydberg and Burroughs Sign ATOs with Bridgeport


The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced Sunday that Islanders’ 2013 draft picks Victor Crus Rydberg and Kyle Burroughs have been signed to amateur tryout contracts (ATOs).

Crus Rydberg played 62 games for the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) this season, collecting 37 points (12 goals, 25 assists). The Islanders fifth-round pick in 2013 recorded three points (one goals, two assists) in five playoff games in the recent OHL playoffs.

Burroughs recently finished his third complete Western Hockey League season with the Regina Pats. In 184 WHL games, Burroughs recorded 81 points (15 goals, 66 assists). In 2013-14, the Islanders seventh-round pick notched 40 points (eight goals, 32 assists) and recorded a plus-14 rating in 58 games. Burroughs, a native of Langley, BC, also had one assist in four playoff games. Both are eligible to return to the Canadian Hockey League next season.  

Bridgeport Sound Tigers:  27-33-2-5, 4th in Northeast Division, 13th in Eastern Conference

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers offense couldn’t solve the Hartford Wolf Pack’s defense, as the Sound Tigers were shut out in back-to-back games. On Saturday, Bridgeport lost 4-0 to their rivals and followed it up with a 3-0 loss the next day. The Sound Tigers welcomed back Chris Bruton to their line-up for the first time since Jan. 19.

Stockton Thunder: 29-30-0-6, 3rd in Pacific Division, 7th in Western Conference

The Stockton Thunder went winless this weekend, falling twice to the Idaho Steelheads and once to the Ontario Reign. On Friday, the Thunder dropped a 4-1 decision to the Steelheads, with Ryan Hayes picking up Stockton’s only goal. The teams re-matched in a closer contest on Sunday night, but Stockton was edged 4-3. Martin scored his team-leading 18th of the season on Sunday, while Alan Quine and Hayes also scored for the Thunder. On Saturday, Stockton lost 3-1 to the Ontario Reign. Matt Bergland scored Stockton’s lone goal.
