PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATES

Ryan Pulock, Reinforcements Join Bridgeport

Defenseman Ryan Pulock debuted for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Monday night following the conclusion of his season with the Brandon Wheat Kings. This season, Pulock collected 63 points (23 goals, 40 assists) in 66 regular-season games for Brandon. In his junior hockey career, Pulock had 210 points (64 goals, 146 assists) in 261 games. The Grandview, Manitoba, native has led Wheat Kings defensemen in scoring in each of his four seasons with the team. The Islanders selected Pulock in the first round (15th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Following the conclusion of the NHL’s regular season, Matt Donovan, Brett Gallant, Mike Halmo, Justin Johnson, Scott Mayfield, John Persson and Johan Sundstrom were returned to Bridgeport.

Strome Named AHL All-Rookie:
Ryan Strome was named to the 2013-14 All-Rookie Team on Apr. 9, as voted by AHL coaches, players and media. The fifth-overall pick in 2011 finished the season with 49 points (13 goals, 36 assists) in 37 games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. At the time of his first call-up to the NHL in December, Strome had been leading the AHL with 33 points in 23 games. With the Isles this year, Strome tallied 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 37 games.

Bridgeport Sound Tigers:  27-36-2-5, 4th in Northeast Division, 13th in Eastern Conference

A pair of brand-new Bridgeport Sound Tigers scored their first professional goals over the weekend, as the Sound Tigers fell 2-1 against the Albany Devils and Springfield Falcons. Defenseman Jesse Graham scored his first AHL goal – a power-play marker – in the loss to Albany on Friday. The sixth round, 155th overall, pick in 2012 signed an ATO following the end of his season with the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit. Justin Hickman scored his first professional goal in Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to Springfield. Tied 1-1 late in the third, the Falcons scored the go-ahead goal with 5.4 seconds remaining in regulation. Hickman, a Kelowna, BC native, had signed an ATO earlier in the week following the conclusion of his junior career with the Seattle Thunderbirds. On Monday, Apr. 14, the Sound Tigers lost 4-2 to Adirondack Phantoms. Scooter Vaughn and Alan Quine notched a goal for the Sound Tigers, while Ryan Pulock made his AHL debut. John Persson also skated for the Sound Tigers.
