Isles Awards: Goal of the Year
Vote for the Isles goal of the year in the third installment of Isles Awards

It's time for the third round of #IslesAwards voting!

Islanders fans - it's up to you to decide the "Goal of the Year."

Watch the video - containing three different goals that players, coaches and staff deemed worthy - and place your vote. The poll will be open until noon on Thursday, with the winner being announced Friday.

Nominee 1: John Tavares, Jan. 12 at Dallas
After falling behind 0-2 to the Dallas Stars in the first period, the Islanders came back to earn the victory on Tavares' winner with just 1:24 remaining in the third period. The goal, set up by a sleek pass from Calvin de Haan, sealed the Islanders' fourth consecutive win and seventh straight on the road.

“I just went hard to the net and Cal made a heck of a pass,” Tavares said. “I loved his reaction, he almost didn’t know what to do.”

Nominee 2: Kyle Okposo, Jan. 2 vs. Chicago
One day after being left off the Team USA Olympic Roster, an emotional Okposo delivered a memorable night at Nassau Coliseum. With the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks in the building, Okposo scored the overtime game-winner and skated off to chants of "USA-USA."

“When that puck went in and I heard everybody chanting ‘USA’, it was pretty special,” Okposo said. “I just wanted to go out and play my game. I didn’t prepare any different.”

Nominee 3: Travis Hamonic, Mar. 23 vs. Columbus
Travis Hamonic's end-to-end effort against the Columbus Blue Jackets added insurance for the Islanders, who defeated Columbus 2-0 as Evgeni Nabokov stopped all 41 shots against.

“It was nice to see the ice open up,” Hamonic said. “It seemed like the defensemen overplayed both sides of the ice and protected the walls a little too much. I was fortunate to keep skating and it was a pretty big relief to get that one in.”
