Islanders Announce Promotional Schedule for First Half of Season
Season Theme: We Play for You
This image represents a rendering of the mini locker giveaway item. Actual lockers will accurately represent the jersey and equipment from the early 1980s.

The New York Islanders announced today the promotional schedule for the first half of the season. The organization plans to honor the storied franchise history while at the same time, embrace the current talent, led by team captain John Tavares, Kyle Okposo and newly acquired goalie, Jaroslav Halak.

The theme for the Islanders’ 2014-15 season is “We Play for You,” which is an acknowledgment to the most loyal fan base in the National Hockey League that has made so many incredible moments inside of Nassau Coliseum unforgettable.

The final season opens at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday, Oct. 11 against the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 p.m. Players will wear commemorative patches on their jerseys all season. Fans will have the ability to purchase merchandise that honors the history of Nassau Coliseum.

As we celebrate our final season at Nassau Coliseum, we will honor the team’s storied history while at the same time showcase the current stars. Throughout the first half, several Islanders Hall of Fame alumni whose numbers have been retired, will return to the building that saw them lift the Stanley Cup to the rafters.

We’re excited to welcome back Billy Smith, Bob Nystrom and Clark Gillies for nights dedicated to each of them. On those nights, a specially made mini locker stall commemorating each player will be included in a special ticket package. Season ticket holders are guaranteed to receive all giveaways. Tickets for these dates will become available to the general public on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
