First Steps (ages 2-4)

This program for independent pre-school aged children focuses on gently acquainting young children with the ice and developing coordination in a creative and playful enviroment.

Parent & Tot (ages 2-4)

This is a parent participation version of our First Steps program for young beginners. Parents should be sufficiently comfortable on ice skates to assist their child. Tots who can move and get up on their own on the ice should register for Snowplow Sam.

Pre Hockey (ages 3-6)

Pre Hockey is intended for children who have not ice skated before and are enthusiastic about hockey.  Kids will learn balance, basic forward and backward skating, glides, stops, turns and beginning crossovers. Required equipment includes a hockey helmet (with a face cage), stick, shin guards, hockey skates and hockey gloves.

Snowplow Sam (ages 4-6)

First time skaters will be learning basic balance, proper falling and getting up, beginning forward skating and two foot glides.  Levels 1,2 and 3 are progressive in completion and skill mastery.  Students will work on skating with speed, simple turns, beginning backward skating and stops.

Basic Skills 1-2 (ages 6+)

The "Basic Skills" curriculum provides beginners with a strong skating foundation. Once a skater has completed the first two levels, they may choose to enroll in the Jr. Figure Skating Academy or Hockey Academy Programs.

Basic Skills 3-4 (ages 6+)

The progression to Levels 3-4 includes forward and backward stroking, forward crossovers, three turns, stops, footwork combinations and much more! Once at this level, skaters will also have the opportunity to join our Jr. Figure Skating Academy

Basic Skills 5-6 (ages 6+)

The progression to Levels 5-6 includes backward crossovers, hockey stops, edge work, three-turns, T-stops, Bunny hops and more.  Skaters at this level are more than ready and encouraged to join our Jr. Figure Skating Academy as this has proven to increase their progress at a faster and steady pace.

Jr. Figure Skating Academy - Level 3 and above (ages 6+)

While encouraging skaterrs to accelerate their completion of the Basic Skills curriculum, Academy coaches motivate skaters to enhance the quality of their basic skating giving them a strong foundation in fundamental figure skating techniques.  Skaters are encouraged to attend at least two of the four weekly scheduled Academy sessions.

Adult Basic Skills (ages 18+)

It is never too late to learn to skate!  Level 1 is intended for absolute beginners. Balance, beginning forward skating, glides, stops and basic backward movement are introduced.  Skaters who are comforatble moving on the ice will progress to Level 2, learning basic turns, crossovers and backward skating.
