Courier of CourageMany young children across Long Island have experienced a hardship in their lives. Despite life's struggles, these kids have overcome obstacles to get where they are today. The "Courier of Courage" program acknowledges these children for the battles they've faced and the hardships they've overcome. Behind the funding of CNBC's Joe Terranova, the "Courier of Courage" will deliver the game puck to the NHL officials before select 2013-14 Islanders home games during an on-ice presentation. These special guests will be escorted to the ice by an ambassador of youth hockey on Long Island and a member of the PAL Jr. Islanders youth hockey organization.
The Islanders are looking for youth hockey players, age 8-12, who have overcome a hardship, disability or illness, and are continuing to play hockey. All submissions should be of children within the tri-state area.
The submission should include the following:
• Name of child
• Age of child
• Town where child is living
• The hardship, disability or illness that was overcome
• Parent/guardian name and contact information (phone number/email)
All submissions should be directed to Ann.Rina@newyorkislanders.com.
