TRANSACTIONS:
Selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round (27th overall) of the 2005 National Hockey League Draft. Signed a two-year Entry-Level Contract with Washington on April 2, 2009. Signed as a free agent by Buffalo on November 28, 2011.

LAST SEASON:
Appeared in a career-high 16 NHL games during his first season with the Islanders and fourth professional campaign...Recorded his first NHL point (assist) on Feb. 7 at NY Rangers...Suffered a lower-body injury on Mar. 22 vs. Pittsburgh and was placed on injured reserve on Apr. 1...Activated off injured reserve on Apr. 15 after missing 11 games...Appeared in 36 games with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League during the NHL lockout...Recorded five points (1g/4a) and 81 penalty minutes with a plus-3 rating...Finished second on the team in penalty minutes.

CAREER:
2011-12: Appeared in his first five NHL games with Buffalo, collecting 12 PIM over three NHL recalls...Recorded six points (1g/5a) in a career-high 57 AHL games with Rochester during his third professional season and first in Buffalo’s organization...Led Rochester with a career-high 143 PIM and finished third among AHL rookies in that category...Received his first-ever NHL recall from the Buffalo Sabres on Nov. 30...Skated 7:51 and recorded one hit in his NHL debut against the Detroit Red Wings on Dec. 2...With Rochester, scored his first AHL goal on Nov. 18 vs. Toronto...Missed two games with an injury from Dec. 17-18 and six more games from Feb. 8-19.. Skated in all three postseason games during Rochester’s Western Conference Quarterfinals vs. Toronto. 

2010-11:
Played the majority of his second professional season with the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL), recording eight points (1g/7a) and 74 PIM in 26 games... Appeared in four postseason games for the Stingrays...Skated in seven contests with the Hershey Bears (AHL), earning one assist. 

2009-10:
Played his first professional season in South Carolina, scoring one goal and earning three assists in 17 games...Suffered a season-ending hand injury against Gwinnett on Nov. 21.

COLLEGE/JUNIOR:
2008-09: Completed his senior season at the University of North Dakota (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) with 10 points on two goals and eight assists in 27 games...Made his professional debut for the Hershey Bears (AHL) against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Apr. 12. 

2007-08
: Recorded career-highs in goals (four), assists (11) and points (15) in 43 games as a junior at North Dakota...Led the team in plus-minus (+24) for the second straight year...Named to the All-WCHA Academic Team for the second straight season... Scored 14 of his 15 points and all four of his goals during WCHA games...Ranked sixth among WCHA defensemen in scoring during league play...Was a plus-5 in 6-2 win at St. Cloud State on Jan. 5...Put together a career-long three-game point streak (three assists) from Jan. 18-25...Had a season-high two assists against St. Cloud State on Mar. 8 for his lone multi-point game of the season... 2006-07:
Scored four points (1g/3a) with a team-high plus-19 rating in 41 games as a sophomore at North Dakota...Had a career-high three points (3a) for the first multi-point game of his career in a 7-2 win at St. Cloud State on Mar. 3...Named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week on Mar. 6... 2005-06:
Appeared in 43 games as a freshman at North Dakota...Logged a plus-18 rating...Ranked fourth on the team with 96 penalty minutes...Earned his first career points with assists in back-to-back games at Minnesota-Duluth on Nov. 11-12...Made his collegiate debut on Oct. 8 vs. Miami (OH). 

2004-05:
Scored 13 points (3g/10a) in 55 games with 181 penalty minutes for Sioux Falls of the USHL...Played with Team World in the 2005 USHL Prospects/All-Star game.
