Selected by the Islanders in the fourth round (92nd overall) of the 2009 National Hockey League Draft. Signed an entry-level contract with the Islanders on May 31, 2011.
LAST SEASON:
Finished second on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (American Hockey League) in scoring with 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists) in 52 games as a rookie...Led the team with a plus-26 rating, which ranks second all-time behind Trent Hunter’s single-season record (+27, 2001-02)...Made his NHL debut with the Islanders, recording four assists in 15 games...Recorded his first professional assist in a three-point game (3a) on Oct. 9 at Albany...Scored his first two professional goals, including the game-winning goal with 18.7 seconds left in the third period, on Oct. 29 vs. Providence...Earned AHL Player of the Month honors in January, recording 18 points (8g/10a) and a plus-14 rating in 11 games as the Sound Tigers went 10-0-1....Recorded three consecutive three-point games (4g/5a) to close out January, earning AHL Player of the Week honors for the period ending Jan. 29...Posted an eight-game point streak from Jan. 15 - Feb. 11, totaling 17 points (6g/11a)...Also had a five-game goal scoring streak from Jan. 15-28...Served as the Sound Tigers representative at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City...Earned his first NHL call-up on Feb. 23.
