Michael Grabner
The hero of Thursday’s 5-4 win over the Winnipeg Jets, Grabner scored two goals in the last 8:15 of the third period. Grabner beat Chris Mason stick side on a penalty shot and tipped home the winner with under a minute remaining in the game. The Austrian forward took all three Islanders penalty shots this season and has 30 points (19g/11a) through 77 games.
Cam Atkinskon
The Blue Jackets rookie is finishing the season strong as he has seven points (3g/4a) in his last five games including his first career hat trick against Colorado on Thursday. The 22-year-old has five goals and six assists in 26 games this season playing on a line with RJ Umberger and Derick Brassard.
Final Game:  The Islanders and Blue Jackets wrap up their seasons on Saturday night at Nationwide Arena. Entering their final contest, the Islanders have 79 points, six more than their total from 2010-11. The Islanders are 6-4 in their last 10 games.

Team Leaders:
John Tavares leads the Islanders in points this season with 81 (31g/50a) in 81 games. The All-Star center is the first Islander since Ziggy Palffy (87 in 1997-98) to record 80 points in a season. Matt Moulson leads the team in goals with 36 and is one point shy of 70. If Moulson can reach 70 against Columbus, it would mark the first time since 1995-96 that the Islanders boasted two 70-point players. Captain Mark Streit leads all Islanders defensemen with 46 points (7g/39a) and is tied for fourth in team scoring with Frans Nielsen (17g/29a).

Milestones: Some milestones reached this season: Steve Staios played his 1,000th career game on April 6, 2012... Mark Streit scored the 10,000th goal in Islanders history on February 9, 2012...Evgeni Nabokov won his 300th career game on January 14th, 2012...Matt Moulson scored four goals in one game 12/3/11 at Dallas on December 3, 2012...John Tavares recorded four points in one period on October 13, 2011 vs. Tampa Bay.
Jakub Voracek scored 2:31 into overtime as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Islanders 4-3 on Nov. 24, 2010, the team’s only meeting last season. Trent Hunter, Michael Grabner and John Tavares lit the lamp for the Isles while Antoine Vermette, Chris Clark and RJ Umberger added tallies for the Jackets.

Quote of the Day: Jack Capuano on his young team: "For whatever reason this year, our road record wasn’t bad. We just couldn’t get the job done at home and that’s something we have to accomplish. Still, a lot of young guys are coming. It’s a process and it can be frustrating at times, but I see it and they’re coming and we’re getting better every day.”
