Islanders-Panthers Preview
New York Islanders vs. Florida Panthers
Islanders go for two-game Florida sweep as they visit the Panthers tonight; TV: MSG PLUS 2; Radio: 94.3 WMJC; Game Time 7 pm

The Islanders will look for their second straight win in the Sunshine State as they take on the Florida Panthers at the Bank Atlantic Center tonight at 7 pm. Some bad blood could be brewing after Florida's Rostislav Olesz hit Bridgeport Sound Tigers defenseman Chris Lee hard into the boards from behind during preseason action. Be sure to catch all of the action live on 94.3 WMJC with Steve Mears and Chris King and on MSG PLUS 2 with Howie Rose and Billy Jaffe.

The Islanders made their Thursday night contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning very interesting, but all that mattered was that they earned two points. Trent Hunter scored two goals, including the overtime winner to stake the Islanders to a 4-3 victory.
Mike Comrie chipped in with a goal and an assist, and Frans Nielsen assisted on two goals to help the Islanders improve to 2-2-0 on the season. Joey MacDonald––playing in his fourth straight game––stopped 33 of 36 shots. Doug Weight also tallied his second power play goal of the season.
The Islanders were on their way to a trouble-free victory in the third period, leading 2-0, but the Lightning stormed back to tie the game. Hunter put the Islanders back on top, but only momentarily as Tampa Bay scored again to force overtime.
In the extra frame, Tampa goalie Olaf Kolzig coughed the puck up to Nielsen, who found a wide open Hunter in the slot for an easy put away only 51 seconds into the extra period. Hunter now leads the Islanders with four goals in four games. He is tied with Weight for the team lead in points with four.
The Panthers come into tonight's game sporting a record of 1-2-0. They opened the season with a 6-4 loss to Carolina before defeating Atlanta 3-2, last Saturday. Their last contest was a 6-2 loss to Minnesota on Thursday.
Florida lost their former captain, Olli Jokinen, on Draft Day to a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes. They have added forward Cory Stillman to the lineup and defensemen Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton. Bryan McCabe is also with Florida, but he is out with a back injury.
Leading the way early offensively for the Panthers have been Stephen Weiss (1-3-4) and David (3-1-4). Nathan Horton (1-2-3) and Ballard (0-3-3) have contributed as well. Tomas Vokoun has started all three games for the Panthers and has a 4.04 goals-against average and a .859 save percentage.
The Islanders and Panthers split their two preseason meetings this year. The Islanders won 4-2 in Summerside, P.E.I., while Florida won 6-0 at home. Last season, the Islanders failed to win a game against the Panthers in four tries.
