Islanders-Lightning Preview
New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
Team Record: 20-32-11
Last Game: 5-2 W @ TOR
Season Series: 2-0-1 of 4
Team Record: 33-33-7
Last Game: 3-2 SOW v EDM
Season Series: 1-2-0 of 4
Mark Streit
The Islanders captain has points in his last five games, tallying a goal with six assists during that stretch. A vocal leader in the locker room and in the media, Streit is one of the primary forces responsible for keeping the team motivated and focused during the final weeks of the season, regardless of the standings.

As he has during each year that he’s played for the Islanders, Streit is once again leading the team’s defensemen in goals (6), assists (36) and points (42). He is the fourth defenseman in Islanders history to post 40+ points in at least three seasons, joining Denis Potvin, Tomas Jonsson and Stefan Persson.
Tim Wallace
The former Islander was claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay on Feb. 23, and has seen an uptick in his production with his new club. He tallied just one assist in 31 games during his time with the Isles, but has already netted two goals and two assists in 11 games with Tampa Bay.

Wallace secured his first-career NHL goal during his third game with the Lightning on Mar. 3 at Carolina against, beating proven net minder Cam Ward. Skating on Tampa Bay’s third line with JT Wyman and Trevor Smith, Wallace has two assists in his last three games and has posted an “even” or better plus-minus rating in 10-of-11 games with his new club.
Series Rap Up: The Islanders and Lightning conclude their four-game season series tonight at St. Pete Times Forum. The home team has won each of the first three meetings this season, with the Islanders out-scoring the Lightning 11-6 in the series. Al Montoya was in goal for both Islanders victories against Tampa Bay this season, wihle John Tavares has three goals and three assists in the series.

Moulson's Career High:
Matt Moulson established a new career best with his 32nd goal of the season Tuesday in Toronto. He's the first Islander to post three-consecutive 30-goal seasons since Zigmund Palffy (1995-96 to 1997-98). Moulson has also posted career highs in assists (29) and points (60) this season.

Point-Per-Game:
John Tavares has posted career highs in goals (31), assists (42) and points (73) in 73 games this season. He is the fourth player in Islanders history to post at least 73 points at age 21 or younger; the other three have banners hanging at the Coliseum: Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier and Denis Potvin. Tavares is on pace for 82 points this season, which would be the highest Islanders total since Zigmund Palffy had 87 in 1997-98.
The New York Islanders scored five unanswered goals to defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1 on Dec. 6 at Nassau Coliseum. Martin St. Louis opened the scoring for Tampa Bay before John Tavares, Matt Martin, Milan Jurcina, David Ullstrom and Matt Moulson responded for the Islanders. Ullstrom’s score was his first career goal and Jurcina’s was his first of the season. Al Montoya stopped 23 shots for the win.

Answer from Tuesday's question: What Islanders rookie was the last to record a five-point game vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs? The answer is: Mikko Makela. Makela scored two goals and three goals in a five-point effort against the Leafs on Jan. 28, 1986.
Al Montoya will start tonight in Tampa. The same lineup that took the ice in Toronto on Tuesday will go tonight. Click here to check the lines.

Jack Capuano on Evgeni Nabokov's one-year contract extension: "One thing you have to realize as a coach is you never know what kind of a team you're going to have. So many things happen in the offseason. But it's a great signing. Nabby came to the organization, probably didn't know what to expect at the start, and really fit in with the guys and has played very well for us."
